Sweet Revenge …dreams are made of these.

Sweet Revenge Nibbler:

Edibles – 8/10 In regards to their cupcakes, daring and delectable

Vibes – 9/10 – Like a cozy little french cafe; perfect for dates and girl talk

Services – 9/10 – Friendly, warm, waitstaff.

Sweet Revenge, for lack of a better word, is a sweet spot. Located in the East Village there are competitive wine bars and dessert spots all around. What sets this apart maybe the lazy-Sunday atmosphere that founder/owner Marlo Scott has cast upon her shoppe. (It feels pretentious to use olde english here, but this place just brings out the romantic in me.)

Stepping in between the tall front doors, suddenly, suddenly it feels as though we’ve stepped into a different place, a different time. A cozy little French cafe with a staff of genuine soft smiles.

Sitting and people watching out the seat to celiling windows and nursing my drink; I’ve slipped into Amelie’s world and at any moment the little city-nymph will introduce me to the owner of the clover green-eyes behind that tattered copy of Metamorphosis. We’ve noticed that we have yet to notice each other… But I digress.

Sweet Revenge is just one of these places that will allow you to  digress, a little, from life in the chaotic city and have a perfectly paired cupcake and long tall drink.

Spice Islands Carrot & Mandra Rossa Pinot Grigio, Italy

Their have four main flavors and two specialty flavors on daily rotation.

Sweet Revenge – Peanut Butter Cake, Ganache Filling with Peanut Butter Fudge Frosting
Pure – Mexican Vanilla Cake with Mexican Vanilla Buttercream
Dirty – Valrhona Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate Truffle
Crimson & Cream – Raspberry Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Pictured above is the Spice Islands Carrot cake with slivers of carrot in each bite. The cake packs a surprising kick of spices that enriches the sweeetness of the frosting. The crispness of the Pinot Grigio compliments nicely.

Mayan Chocolate & Kopparberg Pear Cider, Sweden

What’s a dessert bar without chocolate? Enter the Mayan Chocolate – Cinnamon Chocolate Cake with Cinnamon Chocolate Buttercream and Kopparberg Pear Cider. The cake is moist, rich and decadent but not overwhelming because of the way the cider cleanses the palette with each sip…which frees up your taste buds for even moarr chocolate!!

Bird of Paradise & Mango Bellini

This is the Bird of Paradise – Lime Chiffon Cake with Mango Buttercream & Fresh Lime Zest cupcake with the recommended Mango Bellini. A most refreshing combination that is just perfect for those sticky summer nights.

Stop by soon to have some great sweets, drinks and a quiet little spot for chatter and laughter.
